TEN/MET MEMBERS CAPACITY WORKSHOP ON ACTION RESEARCH ENHANCED

As part of its mandate, TEN/MET organized a capacity workshop for its members in Dodoma for them to
Be able to conduct action research on Gender‐Based Violence. The workshop was facilitated by gender guru ‐ Dr Rose Shayo from the University of Dar‐es‐Salaam. The initiative was part of the government and international efforts to eradicate Gender-Based Violence.
Despite all the efforts, GBV has remained a pervasive problem and one of many challenges facing individual men, women, boys and girls in their diversity both in urban and rural areas.
The main objective of the workshop was to give members basic research skills on conducting action research on GBV five regions namely Mara, Kagera, Mwanza, Morogoro and Pwani. Training also included development and trialing of research tools to be used in the study. The findings are intended to provide evidence on the magnitude of the problem GBV in schools and factors engineering it and effects of GBV at household, community and institutional levels and collectively seek ways on addressing this problem.
